The foundation to successfully treat patients with TMD/sleep apnea issues will be addressed in this hands-on program with Professor Michael Stubbs.

This program will teach participants to gather diagnostic information, analyse risk factors, and form a cohesive treatment plan under the direction of an experienced practitioner. Learn the principles behind simple and moderately complex treatment planning, including the appropriate occlusal orthotic devices for complete patient care. In this course you will have online access that can be viewed in your own time as well as hands-on learning components. Outcomes

  • Understanding the aetiology and pathogenesis of TMD and Sleep Disorders

  • Understanding the examination of a TMD or Sleep Disorder patient including the key attributes of clinical history and examination.

  • Understanding which type of occlusal splint is indicated and will be of benefit to the patient including material and other choices.

  • Understanding how to complete the lab script to organise to organise a mandibular or sleep appliance

  • Understanding the benefits and disadvantages of splint therapy, and the other modes of treatment that are available and can benefit patient care

Webinar and Hands-on Component

  • Part 1a (Online): 4 hours of recorded academic content released in October 2021. Access to review as many times as you like for 6 weeks. 4 CPD hours.

  • Part 1b (Online): Sunday November 7, 2021, 9am (AEST), 3 hours +, have a tailored treatment planning and case tutorial session guided by Specialist A/Prof Stubbs. Each delegate will be provided a case presentation template which they will complete by finding a suitable patient in their practice (this can be as simple/complex as they choose). The session will involve going through each Delegates’ case and having personalised mentoring and teaching. 3+ CPD hours.

  • Part 2 (Hands-On) November 13, 2021 (Melbourne), 9-3pm full day live participation. Small group participation where attendees will have the opportunity to bring their own patient for consultation and management with A/Prof Michael Stubbs (valued at $300+ pp). See live how he assesses, diagnoses and develops a treatment plan. Learn not just the theory, but see it live in action! This can then help assist you to look after the patient with confidence. We have a strict limit on patient numbers and will be providing this opportunity on a first register first serve basis. Food and drink provided. Limited to 20 max. 6 CPD hours.
